GMOs and cocktails – Slow Food Portland’s First Happy Hour

Please join us this coming Tuesday, February 24 for the first Slow Food Portland Happy Hour! Make your way over to Castagna after work for a light snack, some drinks, and conversation about hot topics in food with other local Slow Foodies. It’s a chance to connect with the ideas and people that make up the local food community.

Dr. Lisa Weasel, a Portland State biology professor, penned a recently-released investigation of genetically modified foods entitled Food Fray: Inside the Controversy over Genetically Modified Food. Her book delves into the greed behind the industry and the public’s utter ignorance about GM foods. Dr. Weasel will be on hand for the happy hour to briefly speak about her book and answer your questions – after that, it’s up to you whether you want to debate about GM foods, dish over recent food issues, swap recipes, or just chat with your neighbors! We hope to see you Tuesday. We’ll be there with drink-in-hand!
