Slow Food Youth Network Portland
Cultivating youth leaders of food justice.
Slow Food Youth Network Portland officially launched in 2020, with the help of Slow Food activists from Portland State University, Portland Community College, and Slow Food Portland. Our goal is to build a network of young people (teens to 30) who are inspired to be participants and allies of fair food and food justice.
We aim to empower young people to make our local food systems more equitable and inclusive for everyone. We promote diversity, honor cultural traditions, and ignite the joy of connecting eaters with farmers and food producers. In 2020 we organized two virtual projects, Disco Soup and Tasty Tunes. Disco Soup is SFYN’s global effort to fight food waste, with participants cooking and sharing recipes using foods that would otherwise go to waste. Tasty Tunes shares stories from across the globe about the connection between food and music. Having fun is our key ingredient for success while doing this work!
Slow Food Youth Network Portland is looking to grow our network of youth leaders. Email us at hello@slowfoodportland.com for more information on how to join!
